2008 Costume Party

Every year I look forward to the costume party that the Chattertons and Edwards have.  This year we decided to go as punk rockers.  We pretty much got the idea because the grocery store had hair color on clearance after halloween and it seemed like a good excuse to get a little crazy.  So here are some of the costumes that we got decent pictures of:

Welp, it's late so that's all you get this month I guess...  Later!

A little update...

I am going to have to put some batteries in the camera and start taking pictures again.  I don't ever really post anymore, because I never have any pictures to go along with it.  Let's face it, a post without pictures...what fun is that?  Oh well, that's what you're gonna get this time!

So lately I've been doing quite a bit of hunting, playing my new electric guitar, and working out.  Yesterday morning I went hunting back in the woods behind our house.  I hunted in my ground blind again, because I was hunting by myself and wanted to be able to video tape if I got a shot.  I had my tripod all set up with the video camera ready to go, but nothin'!  I did figure out that had I hunted the stand that I save for me and Jana to hunt together I would have probably had a lot more action.  I pass it on my walk back to the house and it was like I was walking through their bedroom!  Deer were jumping and running every direction!  I guess maybe I should have found a different way back to the house.  Oh well, it will probably be a week or two before we get to hunt up there again so hopefully they'll settle back down.

Near the beginning of the year when I started lifting free weights I set a goal for myself to try to reach by the end of the year.  Nothing major.  I'm a small guy so I'm not bench pressing bulldozers or anything.  I just want steady progress.  I figured if I didn't set a long term goal then I would get bored with it and probably quit.  Well, I actually reached my goal yesterday!!!  I guess it's time for a new goal, huh?

Last night I took Jana to see the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra do a Phantom of the Opera event.  She had to attend a concert for an assignment in her music appreciation class.  This is not something that I would normally consider going to, but it filled her requirement for the class so we bought tickets.  From the very first song I was just amazed.  I loved it!  First they performed five songs from the musical.  They had some excellent singers too!  Then after intermission, they showed the original 1925 silent film on the screen while the orchestra played music to go along with it.  What was so amazing was the fact that it was SO seamless.  I would find myself forgetting that there was a real live orchestra down there playing along with the movie.  I really enjoyed it!

Okay, well, it's time for me to go get ready for services this morning.  Gotta run!  Oh, here is one picture...I put a green pearl pick guard on my new guitar to make it a little more me...

What's new?

So, the past month has been pretty busy.  I thought I'd just type up a quick update.  I've been getting prepared for bowhunting season which opened Saturday.  Jana went with me Saturday morning, but we didn't see anything.  I'm hopeful that she'll get a chance to at least shoot at something this season.  Saturday afternoon I went out by myself to my ground blind.  I had an enjoyable afternoon, but didn't see any deer.

Here is a picture of the water hole that I hunted near Saturday afternoon:

Here is the view that I had all afternoon:

I did have a little visitor show up in my tent.  This turtle came walking up under the edge of the blind and spent all afternoon sitting there watching me.

Last week I got a wild hair and bought me an electric guitar.  It's a cheap little Fender Squier Strat.  I already had a small amp.  I bought a "metal" pedal and have been making some pretty strange sounds lately...It's not quite bluegrass, but I'm having fun with it.  I shot a little video that I may post on here if I get a chance... You can check it out on youtube if you want.

Campout!

2008-09-01

The kids wanted to "campout" in the weight room last night.  When we got home from services I brought out the TV/DVD combo.  Cloe gathered up home videos, veggie tales, and a Jewel CD (in case we wanted to "jam out with some Jewel", she said).  So we had a pretty good evening.  The futon isn't quite my bed, but it wasn't bad.  We woke up around 8 this morning and I went in and got Pop-Tarts and milk.  (breakfast of champions)  We're out here watching Veggie Tales again.  Jana woke up with a migraine so she went inside to lay down.  Hopefully she won't be down all day.

Almost There...

I spent this past week sanding and painting.  I finished up the painting Thursday night.  Friday I went to Lowe's after work and picked out my carpet.  I have yet to buy carpet from Lowe's, but what I leave aggravated.  I had a roll of nearly 400 sq/ft of carpet and I asked them to send someone out to help me load it.  They said sure, he'll be right out, but no one showed.  I wrestled it around myself and got it loaded and strapped on.  Oh well, life goes on...  So I got home and Cameron helped me sweep the floor and lay the new carpet.  I got it all cut and seamed and Cameron was dying to hang our big Monster Energy poster so we went ahead and put it up.  We finished that up around 9pm.  I really wanted to get my stuff moved in so I started hauling equipment from my garage over to the room.  Most of it moved pretty smoothly.  The big weight machine was a bear to move and fit through the door by myself, but I managed.  I still have to put down trim and I have some more decorating that I want to do, but the main thing is that I am set up to work out in there now.  I got to try it out for the first time this afternoon.  I love it!  So here it is:
